Ahh ..... lace knitting !!!!! Once upon a time, in a land far,far away (the 60's) I started working in a yarn shop. Tho I no longer work in a shop, I am still knitting. I've been thru all the usual phases....Hippie stuff in the 60's, Aran/cables in the 70's, fair isle in the 80's, some of everything in the 90's and finally to lace knitting. I have come to appreciate the 'old' lace patterns from the old books. Shetland, ornburg etc. Anything with lots of pattern done with fine yarn (fingering, lace, cobweb). Nothing heavier than sport or DK and then only if I really have to. I've become a 'yarn snob' . No more acrylics for me. Are natural fibers 'green' ? Merino, alpaca and most certainly qiviut... when I can afford it !!!
