My Bio

I am an engineer by trade, a designer by heart. I have been knitting since 2003. I started designing in 2006, when I embarked on an adventure as a knitwear designer and fiber/yarn entrepreneur under the guise of Fiber Fiend. In the past four years I have self-published over 25 patterns for a variety of garments and accessories, including women’s pullovers, baby sweaters, socks, hats, a purse, a hand towel, and stuffed monsters. My pattern Zarabel (Ravelry link) was published in Knitting Daily on January 29, 2010.  My pattern Colette (Ravelry link) appears in The Twist Collective Spring 2009 issue. My Multnomah Falls pattern (Ravelry link) was published by Yarn Forward magazine in October 2009.  My Aludra vest pattern (Ravelry link) was published by Skacel in the Fall of 2009.  My Textured Argyle and Diamond Vests (Ravelry link) are in the Spring 2009 issue of Knotions Magazine, a free online magazine.  Crystal Palace Yarns has published a tank top design of mine, Aria (Ravelry Link), and I’m working with them on other designs as well.  Knit Picks has published my Snowman Illusion Mittens pattern (Ravelry link) and I'm working with them to publish other patterns through their Independent Designers Program.  Six Sox Knitalong has published one of my sock patterns, Sequoia (Ravelry link).  (It’s a free pattern if you join their Yahoo group.)  I’ve exhibited at Stitches West, the California Wool and Fiber Festival, and The National Needle Arts Association Winter Trade Show. I taught a dye workshop, a workshop on my Spiral Cabled Chemo Caps, and an Illusion Knitting class to the Knitspiration Guild.  You can see my designs as well as my hand-dyed fiber and yarn on my website and on Ravelry (patternsand yarn/fiber). What I’m really interested in as a designer is the intersection of intricate cables and colorwork or subtle textures and lace with flattering fitted knits. I am also interested in unique garment construction.
